How did you find Fitocracy? How has it changed your workouts?

My son turned me on to Fitocracy. I have to thank him for that. Being able to see everyone’s workouts and diet and the success they were having… well it let me know that I needed to change a few things about my diet and the way I was working out so I made room and bought the equipment needed to squat and deadlift, and started eating better.

Do you have any pics to share?

Do you have any long term goals or direction you plan to take your training?
I want to enter a powerlifting competition some day.

What are things you’ve learned through trial and error?
Don’t short change yourself. Always give it your all. If you don’t give it your all it’s like doing half squats. Sure it makes it seem like you are getting stronger but you aren’t— you just waste time.

What areas do you hope to learn more about?
Diet. You can’t know enough about the result the food you eat has on your body

Currently, where would you say your weakness lies? Where do you excel ?
I guess my weakness would be cardio, I just don’t do it. I’m too worried about my squat and deadlifts. I know I need to breathe and have my heart beat but, I need to pick that heavy stuff up too. My bench press helps with the latter.

What motivates you?
You and people like you. Chances are I’ve gotten motivation, encouragement and/or knowledge from you or someone you know on this place we call Fito.

Are you using any supplements or special dietary changes to achieve your goals?
I take a few vitamins, protein and of course a few smart powders like arginine, carnitine and creatine.

If you could give advice to someone starting off, what would you tell them?
There are no shortcuts. If you do the work (diet/exercise) you’ll see the results… and trust me you will be amazed at what you can accomplish.

What’s your ‘secret weapon,’ the thing that pushes you or you feel gives you an edge?
Fitocracy gives me an edge. I can ask anyone on here anything. That is a huge advantage. As far as what pushes me it’s more like who?…I have a few individuals that I follow and try to keep up with.

What has the overall impact of Fitocracy been in your life?
Fitocracy has been awesome for my family. My son started it it and now my wife, daughter and I have all started our fitness journey. It’s nice to hear about the bike ride your daughter had, the new bench press PR your son achieved or the new badge your wife got for deadlifting. It’s just awesome.

One thing I want people to take away from my story is…
You are never too old or too far gone. Find your happy place. Whether it be running, lifting, swimming, whatever it may be and just do it. Log it here and we will all share in your success.
