How did you get started in fitness and training?
I started working out in high school, after that got real involved with fitness, though various personal trainers from which I learned a lot. Kind of got out of it for ten years, recently got back into it in August. I gained lot of weight in that time, was close to 400 lbs, now maintaining at 232.
How did you find Fitocracy? How has it changed your workouts?
A friend of mine had been using it… I saw it on Facebook that he used it so gave it a try.
Do you have any long term goals or direction you plan to take your training?
Long term, keep doing what I’m doing and see where I end up.
What are things you’ve learned through trial and error? What areas do you hope to learn more about?
I’ve learned lot of weight loss tips through trial and error, what to eat and not to eat to help my weight loss, and what leans me out. I’m actually going to pursue my personal training certification soon.
Currently, where would you say your weakness lies? Where do you excel?
Weakness… I guess I’m too focused. Quite honestly, I’m not sure where I excel.
What motivates you?
I’m motivated by the progress I make.
Are you using any supplements or special dietary changes to achieve your goals?
I take 3 protein shakes a day on rest days, and 4 a day on lift days, also take a product called NOS blast, a pre workout supplement.
If you could give advice to someone starting off, what would you tell them?
Start slow. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Don’t rush things and don’t go beyond your limit— progress will slow if you do.
What’s your ‘secret weapon’, the thing that pushes you or you feel gives you an edge?
Nay sayers, people that think what I do is a joke or don’t take my regimen seriously.
What has the overall impact of Fitocracy been in your life?
It has helped me get into pretty good shape.
One thing I want people to take away from my story is…
Work hard on your goals, don’t let people distract you from what you want to achieve, and if I can do it anyone can.
