How did you get started in fitness and training Do you have any pics to share ?
Well I have been playing sports my whole life, So I have an athletic background including football for my division 3 college team. I did not lift seriously until a year or two into college. After that sprint of lifting I took a year off and became fatmode. I am now back into another sprint of lifting now. As far as training Goes I have spent the past few years trying out supplements, researching them as well. Tons of fitness research as well as form instruction. I have also had a private dietician and had an amazing strength and conditioning coach for football which I attribute most of my drive from. He was a well of knowledge and strength.

How did you find the site? How has it changed your work outs?
A buddy of mine who is well versed in the internet found it and sent me an invite, although sadly he does not use this site to the extent I do. As far as changing my workouts it has pushed me as an individual, one of the main problems that I encountered when becoming fatmode was I had lost my long time lifting buddy. And with no one to push me to eat right and lift to the max I lost my drive. Although I started back into lifting before I found Fitocracy, Fitocracy pushed me into overdrive. I lift hard for you guys, for my friends on tinychat, and for myself now. Thanks guys You are my drive, my inspiration. If I don’t lift I not only let me down, but I feel as If I let you down as well.

Do you have any long term goals or direction you plan to take your training?
As a person who has been on a strength training kick for quite some time now, I believe that reaching higher in my 3 lift max which is currently at 1220. I have also never done a cut in my life, which I’m not sure I even need now as It seems oly lifting all the time is both strengthening me and defining my physique. I would be curious as to what is under this flesh should I ever lower my bf% just a tad. But until then bulk for life. side note: I would also like to begin amateur powerlifting.

I believe fitness is much like climbing stairs, everyone is somewhere on that staircase, and you can never reach the top,but when you decide to stop on a floor and rest or take an elevator at a floor, you’ve lost….complacency is the worst thing in life, the moment we become content we may as well die.

What are things you’ve learned through trial and error? What areas do you hope to learn more about?
Well I have most certainly learned after trying lots of things that fitness Is simple. It is people that make things complicated. You want to gain mass, Eat a surplus over BMR + Output. Want to cut? Eat at a deficit under BMR + output. Because Fitness is a science just like any other it is constantly changing and evolving, So I am always ready to hear something new on any topic.

Currently, where would you say your weakness lies? Where do you excel?
My weakness is my legs, I neglected them for too long in my earlier lifting career. Shoulders are my Home, they will always be my most dominate feature.

What motivates you?
Every single person Reading this thread. I live for you guys, I lift for you guys. You guys are my family. I also am motivated by the whole online fitness movement including but not limited to ZYZZ. But more on that later.

Are you using any supplements or special dietary changes to achieve your goals?
I eat what I want.

Supplements:
Micronized creatine, Controlled Labs White Flood, Controlled Labs Purple Wrath, Controlled Labs Blue Growth, Controlled Labs Reduction AM/PM, ZMA, melatonin, Controlled Labs Orange Triad, Fish oil, CLA.

If you could give advice to someone starting off, what would you tell them?
Don’t ever stop working hard, and don’t let your current level of fitness deter you, we were all there once. I don’t respect the guys in the gym that have the huge muscles if they don’t lift hard. I admire the little guy in the corner I see every day busting his ass to work on his squat form logging his lifts into his small notebook. or the guy who comes over and asks me for Power Clean form because he really wants to get into Olympic lifting but wants to do it correctly. Also, the things you make important become important, You cant expect to just head to the gym casually and expect to push yourself any further than above average. Make gym the most important hour to 3 hours you do a day during the time that you are there. Also, please guys and girls, pay minimal attention to the opposite sex in the gym, If you are there to look at them or to impress them then you aren’t going to be able to sustain your fitness drive for very long in the scheme of life. You have 6 other hours of the day to look at females or males, why waste your precious lift time. Another tip, Never tell yourself you cant do something at the gym. You should be pissed if the words ever enter your brain before a lift, “I cant do this…” or “this will be heavy”. If you do happen to say those things, you better do what I do, walk up to the gym mirror and curse at yourself out loud for saying that. There is no Cant, You either do or do not, and if you do not then you better know that you will do it next time.

What’s your ‘secret weapon’, the thing that pushes you or you feel gives you an edge?
My drive. I have conditioned myself as of late to need the gym. It is a drug to me. I come in every day with the same attitude, that the weight in front of me is gonna be moved one way or the other. I have decided I am going to achieve my fitness goals and nothing will stand in my way.

What has the overall impact of Fitocracy been in your life?
Positive. The entire Online fitness movement has just driven me wild. I love that people can bond together as a family or sometimes behind one individual (Zyzz), and motivate themselves to do things that they previously thought impossible. You guys may call Zyzz names or think its stupid, but let me tell you the reason I like him. He wanted something, he saw his goal and he reached out and took it. We should all be so lucky to have that determination.

One thing I want people to take away from my story is…
Live for today… Too many people get stuck in the past, stagnating in their own misery. Today’s you is not bound by the you that was alive yesterday, as much as you may think he or she is. Yesterday you is DEAD. There is only Today’s you… But I will tell you what you get in your mind that you cant achieve your goals or don’t strive even to the slightest to take what you want in life, then you have not only killed today’s you, but tomorrows you as well. Life is too short to not be happy and to take what you want. If you have a goal then reach out and take it….now. Maybe that’s not fitness, fitness isn’t the only way in life, but you better damn believe its mine.
