Lexie began lifting weights in 2010 after a nasty bout with the flu and never looked back. She also swing dances and is training with Ben Tormey in the Getting Ripped For the New Year Group Fitness program. You can follow her on Fitocracy: lexyloowho.

So it’s that time of year again. Time to look around, take stock, and realize, you haven’t gotten a gift for the Fitocrat on your list!! Whoops.

Never fear.

It’s okay! We got your back. Welcome to Fitocracy’s last-minute gift-giving guide! You’re welcome.

A quick note for all you novice gift-givers out there: a gift should be something the receiver wants, and it should be done without an agenda. This is particularly important for fitness gifts. If the person you are giving a gift to is not a habitual gym-goer or hasn’t specifically asked for a fitness-related gift, go with one of the more innocuous gifts on this list or a nice book or something. Check it, if you’re giving your girlfriend a gym membership because she shared some of her issues with a negative body image… you’re going to have a bad time.

The key to giving a good gift? Thoughtfulness. Okay! On with the guide!

Idea 1: Fitness Accessories!

So your buddy is into fitness, but you don’t know what they need. Cool. Give them something they probably want: a high-quality accessory to augment their fitness activities. Like what? you may ask.

Water bottle!

They make water bottles that can be specific to any activity. Get one that fits in your friend’s bike water bottle holder, or a handheld bottle for long-distance runs, or can sustain them during a grueling open-water swim.

Yoga Mat

Does your loved one ever do yoga, or get really into stretching? Check out yoga mats! They are available for any budget, from super cheap to so, so expensive (WHY?) to under $30. Pro tip: look at what they are using right now, and go one step better.

Foam roller

Foam rolling is super-duper good for you, and good for anyone who exerts their body regularly. Go for the high-density foam, and make sure to include a URL to this blog post, “Foam Rolling Techniques from a Massage Therapist,” in your card.

Do they already have a foam roller? Give the gift of pressure points: a lacrosse ball.

Weights!

Your loved one loves to lift weights, but maybe can’t always make it to the gym. Buy a nice kettlebell, or, if you have the space and cash, a full oly weight set. Pro tip: Craigslist is typically great for this. See if you can find anything in your price range.

Idea 2: Something Fun!

Give your loved one an awesome experience. Even if they don’t love it, it can be pretty cool. Even better: do it with them!

Dance lessons!

Dancing is an awesome way to get out and meet new people, move to music, and have a lot of fun! Plus it’s an active experience that fitness people will love. Google “swing dance” and the city you live in! You should do it! Do it now!

Rock climbing!

Almost everyone I know loves rock climbing or wants to try it. Your fitness-loving friend is sure to enjoy it as well. Just… not if they’re afraid of heights.

Pro tip: sing the Spider-man theme song incessantly while they're climbing. Source.

A hike!

Take your loved one on an all-expenses paid hiking weekend… or a jaunt around a trail nearby, depending on your budget and location. Take some nice photos. Post ’em to Instagram and tag @fitocracy.

It's a great gift! Just ask my mom!

Of course! It’s perfect! If your loved one is a true Fitocrat, they would love a gift certificate! It’s good for any coaching, Hero status, and, of course, bragging rights. Check it out!
