Online Coaching

What it is

Online coaching is an innovative way to efficiently scale your services to a large number of clients, all through your computer and mobile device. As an online coach, you can use our tools to guide, instruct, and support clients to help them reach specific goals, wherever they are. These tools include workout routine sharing, 1-1 messaging, private group conversations, client assessment surveys, and more.

In short, online coaching lets you earn more money, reach more clients, and deliver better results in a time efficient manner.

What it’s not

Online coaching isn’t “easy money.” It requires time, attention, and care for your clients. The hallmark of a successful online coach is putting the client’s success above all else. With online coaching, you don’t have the advantage of instructing in-person. That makes it even more important that you help your clients succeed.

On average, most first-time online coaches should expect to invest 15 hours a month for their first time coaching on Fitocracy.

If you invest the time, you will reap the rewards. Many of our experienced coaches net $1,000 – $1,500/month and some even earn over $2,000/month.

How it works

Overview of how online coaching on Fitocracy works

  1. Design a fitness program geared toward a specific type of client and goal (example: men and women from ages 20-40 who want to lose fat, don’t have access to a gym, and have time to do four 45-minute workouts a week). The program should be 8 – 16 weeks long. Don’t get hyper specific, as you will likely need to make specific adjustments for individual clients based on their needs.

  2. Acquire clients for your private coaching group on Fitocracy. Aim for 10 – 30 clients. If you have more than 30 clients, consider enlisting the help of an assistant coach.

  3. Deliver training & nutrition programs to your clients. Adjust the programs for individuals as needed (example: a client may have bad knees and can’t perform certain movements).

  4. Make sure your clients understand the program and follow it.

  5. Keep your clients engaged on a regular basis with daily group discussions, useful articles, video chats, and thoughtful insights.*This is really your time to shine. You should ask open ended questions, share articles, leave comments on client workouts, and whatever else you can think of to keep your clients energized. The more you engage your clients, the more likely they will be to stick with you and refer their friends.

  6. Regularly assess progress and adjust plans as needed

  7. Repeat steps 3-6 as needed

*Protip: the very best coaches build self-awareness and confidence in their clients. They use the “teach a person to fish” approach. If you’re wondering why you’d try to make your clients not need you anymore, remember that happy clients are the #1 source of new business.

Pricing

  • First-time coaches usually set group coaching membership at $55 – $75 a month, but the pricing is up to you. If have a large existing audience and you’re creating custom workout routines with individual diet programming, then you should charge a higher price.
  • Standard revenue split is 70% to you, 30% to Fitocracy.

Positioning

Positioning is important. “Overall fitness” as a goal doesn’t fly. The best performing groups have a specific goal in mind, for example:

  • Fat loss
  • Nutrition and weight loss
  • Strength training
  • Bodyweight training
  • Sport-specific training
  • Etc.

Online coaching is perfect for you if you want to…
